Does the chest expand because your lungs inflate, or do your lungs inflate because your chest expands? explain

Your lungs expand due to negative pressure outside your lungs in your chest cavity…and as your diaphragm lowers and pulls down, expanding your lungs…as you breath in, air enters your lungs and your chest expands due to intercostal rib muscles contracting..when your diaphragm relaxes…your lungs deflate/collapse slightly and air is forced out of your lungs …
